I didn’t realize how much energy I leaked all over the place. The constant worry, the doom and gloom feelings, the pain and suffering in the world, physical ailments, getting older, boredom, relationship struggles. It got too much! When I finally stopped to listen to what my body was telling me, it said “I have had enough fear. Make it stop!” Being a highly sensitive and empathic person is a gift and a curse. To get by in this world, you have to protect yourself from the onslaught of energy, everywhere, and coming your way. In listening to my body I realized I needed to get back to basics. I can’t even think straight when my heart and head are pounding and I am immersed in fear. So I remembered the Heart Math solution, Transforming Anxiety, by Doc Childre and Deborah Rozman. It has helped change my life. In practicing breathing visualizations and affirmations into my heart and adding self Reiki to that, I was able to quiet the mind, the body, and move into a place of love. Asking my network of soul sisters/brothers to send healing energy also worked miracles. This opened my eyes. Wow – seeing where I give my energy away on a minute to minute basis was an eye opener. In any given situation, moment, experience, I have the power and choice of how I choose to feel or believe about the situation. Just because those beliefs served me in the past or it helped me survive doesn’t mean I need to hang onto what doesn’t serve me anymore. I teach empowerment to my students but I forgot to practice it in my own life. A wonderful affirmation from Louise Hay goes like this “I love and approve of myself. I see myself and what I do with eyes of love.” Today I am claiming back my power and choosing calm, peace, good health and contentment. I trust the process of my life. What are you giving away to others? it starts with but a simple breath.

"I had a teacher who told us to go out that week and see how many Mercedes cars we noticed. When I came back I told her I had seen a lot! She asked me if I had seen any junk cars. I told her I didn’t remember seeing any. The next week she reversed it and asked us to go out and see how many junk cars we noticed. Of course we noticed a lot but didn’t remember seeing any Mercedes cars. Where is your focus? Is it on the problem or on the solution and more importantly, where would you like it to be?" -- Kim Hiles
